There is always a massage candle in my bedside table. It provides both extra sensation and also atmosphere to a massage. However, I have not tried a massage candle from the Swede brand before but I am very curious whether this will become my new favorite.
Packaging and first impression
The candle´s packaging is very luxurious. It comes in a beautiful box which also forms the nice packaging where the candle is. The glass jar around the candle has a luxurious look but is also elegant. There is a handy lid on the jar, when you remove this you experience a wonderful scent. This Vitalizing variation has the scent: lemon pepper eucalyptus. The eucalyptus dominates, but I do not mind that at all. In the jar there is a plastic inner jar that contains the actual candle.
Specifications
It is a 150ml candle, which is exceptional because it is made from 100% natural ingredients and therefore also does not contain parabens. The ingredients include various oils such as soya bean oil, beeswax, avocado oil and aloe vera oil.
How does it work?
Light the candle twenty minutes before you start the massage, in this time the scent of the candle spreads throughout the whole room. It takes approximately twenty minutes before the wax turns liquid. Before you begin massaging, blow out the candle so you can use it safely. Pour a little oil on your hands and rub it between your hands before you use the oil on the body.
How does it feel?
The texture of the wax after pouring it on your hands is fantastic, soft and smooth. Ideal for massages. However, when I used the oil to massage my partner's back it congealed really quickly. I solved this by warming up my hands a little every now and then on the glass of the candle. The congealed wax was then easy to spread again. The spout on the jar provides ease of use and the wax smells wonderful.
Conclusion
While I am a big fan of the luxurious feeling that the candle provides and the wonderful scent, the rapid congealing is a problem. The idea that the candle has natural ingredients compensates this somewhat for me. I wash the body after use with a washcloth which removes the congealed wax, this solves the issue.
