Was it a coincidence that EasyToys sent me an email asking me if I wanted to review the Thunder Wrap, just when I was looking at it in the online store? Or is there no such thing as coincidence and was this meant to be?
What is a Thunder Wrap?
Wand vibrators are amazing! Right? They have the strongest vibrations and whether you have a vagina or a penis (or just sore muscles), no one is ever shy about singing it's praises.
But a wand vibrator is just a vibrating button. And so there are several attachments available that can turn a wand vibrator into something else. A masturbator for example, like this Thunder Wrap.
Master Series is a brand known for pretty extreme sex toys that wouldn't be out of place in a BDSM dungeon. With that in mind, I'd already seen the Thunder Wrap used in various games, like forced orgasm, or edging, with a stylishly dressed dominatrix. But that doesn't change the fact that you can also use the Thunder Wrap solo.
Specs and options
The Thunder Wrap is made of highly flexible TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). This is a kind of synthetic rubber that's elastic. It fits over the head of most large wand vibrators from 5.5 to 6 inches, including the Europe Magic Wand, the Doxy Die Cast, and the LELO Smart Wand Large.
The top is a kind of flap that can be wrapped around the penis, like a ... like what, actually? A scarf? The inside is covered with soft studs.
The idea, of course, is that the vibrations from the wand vibrator are distributed evenly around the entire penis. Like you're being held in place by a violently vibrating shaft. Sound good? I thought so, too!
Unboxing
The box of the Thunder Wrap is functional and leaves little to the imagination. The pictures immediately shows what it is and how you can use it. The attachment comes in a clear plastic box.
What you notice right off the bat is that the material feels a little sticky. And it immediately attracts a lot of dust. Fortunately, this is a toy that doesn't go 'in' anywhere, just 'around' the penis.
The test drive
The material the Thunder Wrap is made of is super-elastic. The 'flap' itself is a bit 'limp'. First I pulled the thing over the head of my My Magic Wand. It was pretty tight and firm. Great.
What I hadn't thought about is the fact that you have to adjust the position of the flap in such a way that you can still reach the buttons on your wand. Fortunately it's easy to take off. Just a quarter turn and let's try this again.
It soon became clear that the elasticity of the material also has a few downsides. It absorbs a lot of the vibrations. And the flap doesn't have a strong grip. On top of that, my My Magic Wand makes quite a lot of noise, so I decided to bring in my all time favorite LELO Smart Wand Large.
The Thunder Wrap fits it perfectly, too. The vibrations of the LELO are a lot deeper and so more of them get to you, so to speak. Yeah, this feels really great. Now to add some water-based lubricant and let's get this party started.
I have to say that I was a little disappointed. Yes, it was fine, but I like masturbators that have a little more grip, or even suction. This vibrated nicely, but was still a bit limp around the penis. The ends of the flaps 'flapped' kind of weirdly against my penis. I felt the vibrations best against the back of my penis (near the base). It was a teasing kind of vibration that really got me in the mood. Especially in the vibration mode on the LELO which starts softly and then swells continuously. Boy, that made me impressively hard.
My penis is average length and girth. It looked exactly like the picture on the package, so I did it right. And with a little porn, it was enough to induce an orgasm. But I still sort of longed for the Fun Factory Manta, which has smaller flaps, but has much more grip and transmits the vibrations much better. The best part was when I held the flaps with my free hand. Then I could feel the vibrations better. But is that really how this is supposed to work?
Cleaning and storage
TPE is a material that is porous and contains plasticizers. Another reason why it's a good thing this product doesn't have to go 'in' anywhere.
Just clean under the faucet with some cold water. Then let it dry and put it away. But remember, because it contains plasticizers, you won't want to store this product with other toys. Direct contact could damage your other toys. So put it in a fabric bag (not included).
Conclusion
If you have a wand vibrator with a 'normal' head, you can make it a lot more versatile with attachments like the Thunder Wrap. It's a relatively modest investment.
If you like 'edging' and 'tease and denial' games, then this Thunder Wrap is a nice addition. But if you like toys with grip and suction, you're probably better off with another masturbator.
The pros of the Thunder Wrap:
