Sex toys are constantly being innovated. We bought our first wand vibrator about eight years ago and since then, I've tested several other versions for this website.

This Nouveau Curve Massager is one of them, and a very futuristic one at that. Its shiny underside is reminiscent of the seventies, when they thought space travel would be part of our daily lives. In reality, the Rosy Gold line was designed with the Art Nouveau style of the twenties in mind. But the toy itself is all twenty-first century.

The Nouveau Curve Massager comes in a black box. The packaging is well designed and stands out among the other toys available today. No garish naked ladies, nor the minimalist design that's been on trend in recent years. Everything is nicely detailed in Art Nouveau style. For me it's a welcome change that's been carefully thought out and executed well.

The contents of the box

The box includes the vibrator, a charging cable and a door hanger. The cheeky messages on the door hanger made me smile. One side says 'Makin' Whoopee' and the other side says 'Bank's Closed'. I love these kind of little extras.

The shiny part of the vibrator is made of hard plastic and the head is made of silicone. It may look a bit cheap, but I think the design makes up for it. The button is also made of silicone and does not work all that well. The top of the button half gets lost under the hard plastic, making it somewhat difficult to operate. Not insurmountable, but not great. The vibrator is waterproof and very quiet, even on the more intense settings. It features ten different settings, ranging from continuous vibration to varying intensities. The toy is rechargeable via a USB cable. The vibrations aren't that strong. It also seems to vibrate harder when you just hold it in your hand, compared to when you put it on your skin. It makes me wonder if this vibrator could make me orgasm.

In practice

I can answer that straight away: yes, I did orgasm. And pretty easily, too. The gentlest setting is a bit too light for me, but the second setting is sufficient. It's a really good vibrator. It's easy to turn on, you can easily switch between menus and the head feels great. The bottom of the toy can also be used as a stimulator. I tried it, but I wasn't that impressed. The vibrations in that part were just too gentle to work for me. What I did like was that the design allows you to mix things up. For example, you can put the head more on your vagina, with the handle end just touching your clitoris. I thought that was a really great way to switch things up. The stimulation of the head alone gave me a great orgasm.
