How should I clean my vibrator?
EasyToys gave me this Pjur Toycleaner in exchange for an honest review. But because that would've been a very boring review, I wrote a complete manual on how to clean your sex toys! I'll gladly be demonstrating my cleaning process with my newest acquisition, the JimmyJane Ascend 4.
Simple & clean
I use toy cleaner for all my sex toys. Because it's very easy to use and it can't damage the material your toy is made of. I never use soap or anything similar. I'm afraid that it will damage my toy and that soap residue (or fragrances) will stick to them and irritate my intimate areas.
Rinsing
First I rinse my toys with a little warm water. If the sex toy isn't 100% waterproof, I just put some water on my hand and wipe the toy clean. I've got a lot of toys that aren't waterproof and I still clean them this way every time. I take out the batteries first and never let the toys get completely submerged.
Spraying
After rinsing, I apply the toy cleaner. I spray down the entire toy and let it sit for about 30 seconds. Then I give the edges, studs and caps an extra scrub. A lot of grime can build up in the cracks. If it's too difficult to get in between the edges, I use a Q-tip or a brush. Then add an extra layer of toy cleaner, just to be on the safe side. Because a sex toy can never be too clean, right????
Rinsing
Then I rinse the toys off again. Sometimes I submerge the waterproof toys in lukewarm water. The non-waterproof toys I just wipe clean with my hands and a bit of water.
Drying
I then let everything air dry. Most toys are already pretty dry immediately after rinsing. If they're still really wet, I'll pat them dry with a towel. I usually use a dish towel so I won't get dust or lint on them. That's particularly a problem with silicone toys. The material attracts dust pretty easily. After that I lay them out on a towel in the bathroom to dry.
Storage
I'd like to say that I store my toys neatly and separately in a toy bag but unfortunately that's not the case. Not every toy comes with a convenient bag. So I bought some bags and trays (just at IKEA) to store them neatly. The ABS and PVC toys are all in the same box. The silicone and soft plastic (TPE & TPR) toys are separated to prevent the material from fusing or getting damaged. One day I will make a classification by score, but for now they're in a drawer (you guessed it, in the IKEA cabinet ;) ).
Final verdict
Pjur Toycleaner fits perfectly into my cleaning ritual. It's easy to use, gets sex toys good and clean, and doesn't have an irritating scent.
