As a sex toy tester, of course I'm always interested in the most innovative gadgets. Fortunately, there have been more and more new sex toys hitting the market recently with surprising technological applications.

The Thump It is one of those toys. The launch in April 2019 was hotly anticipated around the globe. So I was honored to be one of the first in the world to test this toy.
What is a Thump It?
According to XR Brands, who produce the Thump It, it's the first toy to use kinetic technology in an anal plug to create powerful thrusting sensations. Kinetic technology is a difficult concept to explain, it uses energy that's produced from movement. Basically, it means there's a heavy ball in this plug that moves powerfully back and forth. That makes it feel like the plug is making thrusting movements.
Specs and functions
The Thump It plug is waterproof, has 7 different settings (3 speeds and 4 patterns), can be operated with a remote control and features a silicone outer shell. Make no mistake: this is no small butt plug. The total insertion depth is almost 12 centimeters and it's over 4 centimeters in diameter!
Unboxing
The Thump It comes in a sort of professional-looking box with a pretty boring white/blue look. The print makes it immediately clear: this is a large butt plug that uses kinetic technology. In the box there's the plug and the remote, as well as a short USB charging cable (why, sex toy manufacturer? Why always so small?) and some instructions.
The remote runs on two AAA batteries, which were not included. Small downside. But there are always a few batteries rolling around in the drawer where I keep my toy collection, so that was solved pretty quickly.
The test drive
I was very, very curious. What would it do, this kinetic technology? Before I started actually using it, I briefly charged the plug.
The plug has an on/off button that you hold down for three seconds to activate. The same is true for the remote. Then you can run through the 7 different patterns with the other button on the remote. You can also use the plug without the remote. Then - after you've turned on the plug - you have to press the on/off button to change the pattern.
Once the Thump It starts working, you'll feel a tremendously powerful thrusting feeling. You can feel (and hear) the heavy ball moving powerfully back and forth inside the plug. Wow, impressive.
But then comes the insertion...and this is a really big boy! It absolutely is not a plug for beginners. Jesus, what a massive, thick plug. It took a decent amount of effort, with a lot of lube (water based, because silicone). It actually took so much effort that I gave up a few times before trying again later. And this is the medium? And there's a large? Good lord!
Once I'd managed it, the sensation was really unique, though. It really feels a lot different than a vibrating plug. The remote makes it easy to change patterns. I usually don't love in-and-out motions in my rear. I generally don't enjoy the friction. But what's nice about the Thump It is that it does give you the feeling of powerful thrusts, but actually stays quietly in place.
Cleaning
Because the Thump It is completely waterproof, you can easily clean it under the faucet. Use lukewarm water and a little (disinfecting) hand soap. There aren't any edges or ridges, so cleaning is simple.
The material does attract a lot of dust, though. So dry it with a lint-free cloth, then put it in a fabric bag to store it (which unfortunately doesn't come included).
Conclusion
There's a reason that XR Brands has won multiple awards for their toys. And the Thump It is another genuinely unique innovation. The kinetic technology provides very powerful thrusting movements.
But this isn't a toy for beginners. The Thump It is big and thick, which makes it more suitable for the more experienced butt plug user. It also isn't a cheap toy, but you do get a genuinely unique experience for the money.
