First Impression
Yes, I can confidently say that the Arcwave Ion is the most immaculately presented sex toy I've seen. Everything from the packaging to the design of the toy and the storage case… it secretly doesn't even look like a sex toy. At least not in the way we are used to. It actually felt a bit like I was unpacking a new laptop. But nothing could be further from the truth.

In the box you will (of course) find the Ion, the charging station, a USB cable, a sample of Pjur water-based lubricant and a manual. If you expect the Ion to be soft, you're right. The Ion is made of a soft and flexible silicone. You can also easily turn it into two parts, making the Ion easy to clean. The stroker part contains some ridges to provide an extra sensation during masturbation. Operation is via buttons placed on the top of the device.

The charging station c. storage case is perhaps the most beautifully designed casing I've ever seen. This is partly because it does not look like a charging station. The Ion is in it and once the lid is on, it literally looks like it could be anything. Why discretion?!?! Well, it also serves as a place to dry the Ion, because on the inside there is a small 'cage' that you fill with a 'DryTech' bag. Charging takes about 85 minutes and should give you about an hour of play time.

In use
Arcwave advises you to use the Ion at least 5 times, because that way you can find the best rhythm that suits you. Be honest, the Ion is not your standard masturbator or sex toy for people with a penis. So with that advice in mind, I honestly didn't expect too much to happen during the first session – it was going to be an exploratory session for me. The Ion uses Smart Silence; the idea is that the Ion only turns on when it senses skin contact over the Pleasure Air zone. Silence is a bit of a misnomer here, as the Ion is definitely the furthest from silent you can get. It does indeed work in the sense that it is meant to; when turned on, it's completely silent until you rub your finger (or penis) over the sensor.

On the lowest setting, it sounds a bit like a rumble, not much different from what a vibrator actually sounds like. Once you turn up the intensity, it starts to sound like, well, a bit like a growling beast. So the Ion does make some noise. And honestly, if you're someone who needs absolute discretion; not sure if the Ion will be right for you then.

The first time I used the Ion, I must admit, the orgasm came very quickly and surprisingly easily. The sensation initially felt no different than, say, the Fun Factory Manta, but the difference here was that it didn't feel sedating. After the orgasm I was confused for a while. It didn't really feel any different from an orgasm that came from using a wand vibrator, for example. It still felt incredible, but how was it revolutionary?

It certainly took me a few tries to really finally understand what the Ion had to offer. My natural instinct with the Ion is to masturbate normally; after all, it calls itself the Pleasure Air Stroker. But actually the best and most intense orgasms have come from simply holding the Ion so that the sensor rests just below my frenulum, and just let it do its thing, so to speak. My general opinion is…
If you read the campaign and the promotional material around the ArcWave, then you actually read nothing else than if you read something about a Fleshlight. The push for ArcWave to be the male brand focused on the male orgasm… I mean, I get it. Not everyone is awake or ready yet. But when the manual points out that "nerve endings have no gender identity" and then says "the nerve endings of the clitoris have a male counterpart in the frenulum," that comes across as exclusionary or something. Just something manufacturers should consider, sex toys are for every body regardless of gender identity.

Aside from that, the ArcWave Ion does indeed feel like the revolutionary product they claim to be. The sensations the Ion can provide are different from a standard vibrating masturbator/stroker, but it does take a few times to really get into it and find your own style of masturbating with the Ion. The price is high, but you really get your money's worth here - from the design and style of the toy to the very chic charging/drying unit. It looks like money, feels like money, and sits prominently on my bedside table; so the ArcWave is ready for action when I am.

Finally found the appropriate combo for me! Unfortunately I have erection problems and have been looking for some time for the right combo to also get good results without erection pills! I bought the Boners vibrating Handjob Masturbator for creating an erection and then immediately switched to the Arcwave Ion Air Pressure Masturbator! Really a recommendation if you have erection problems. You have to have an erection to use the Arcwave otherwise it's not much use, but with the open Boner that problem is quickly solved. After creating an erection transfer to the Arcwave with a little water-based lubricant and just foam it in and hooray within minutes a delicious success!

Due to the good reviews and the promising technology, I decided to purchase this product despite the high price. The product comes in a beautiful box, everything looks sleek. I was worried that the sleeve would be too small, but that was not the case, the material is sufficiently stretchy and with lubricant, it is not a problem. It took some time to figure out the correct operation, sometimes I felt like nothing was happening. With this product as well, it is important to figure out what works best for you. After practicing a few times, it becomes clearer. There is an English manual included, but a Dutch version can also be found online. The promised pulsation on the frenulum is slightly disappointing and sometimes even too intense and painful. The toy can be quite audible, but not overly bothersome. Cleaning is not an issue at all. Overall, with the vibration, pulsation, and soft, stretchy material, this is still a special product, although the promised revolution in this area is not entirely fulfilled.

Big disappointment, first of all the device makes really a lot of noise, really an orgasm stopper, secondly, after trying it a lot of ways... I hardly feel anything from it and with it.
